Basic Training II for Church Planters is a process-driven workshop that provides a comprehensive review of your first year in ministry, after launch. Our Convention strongly encourages all church planters to attend it as a part of a first annual evaluation of where your new church is “at” and where it’s going (in fact, it’s in our Church Planter’s Covenant). Unlike Boot Camp or Basic Training, level 1, which are content-driven, this event is more about interaction and dialogue, learning from your team as well as other teams that will be together with us for this training event. In fact, planters who have participated in both trainings have told us that BT II is more beneficial and helpful for them and their church than Level One!
BT 2 will be held at the Baptist Center, 10255 Old Columbia Road, Columbia, Maryland, on Friday-Saturday, October 10-11th, 2008. Below you will find details pertaining to the process and scheduling of this event.
Your coach, if you have one, and spouse should attend with you. You are responsible to enlist them to join you for this event. In addition, you are asked to select and invite 3-5 key lay leaders to join you for Wednesday only, as well. No one will be allowed to attend alone.
The schedule for the event is as follows:
· Dinner 5:00 – 5:45 (Coach, planter and spouse only.)
· Friday 5:45 – 9:00 Coach, planter and spouse: evaluation of the original strategy
used and implemented during the first year. The goal is to
understand where we’ve been and we’re at in order to
determine where we’re going next.
· Saturday 8:30 – 12:00 Sharing where we’ve been and what we believe are the next
steps. The goal is to get additional feedback from key leaders and to gain ownership of
the future vision and ministry from the same. (Coach and key leaders join planter and
spouse for the entire day)
· Lunch 12:00 – 1:00 Together
· Saturday 1:00 – 5:00 Strategize the resources and mileposts necessary to implement
the plans for the coming year
The cost per team is $49.00 (team = planter, spouse, coach and 3-5 key lay leaders). This provides for all of the training, materials, and meals at this event. Housing options are at your own additional cost if you choose to stay in this area, and a list of hotels can be provided. Sorry, but children are not permitted.
