LIVING WATER COMMUNITY CHURCH, Waterville, ME
Semester Missionary, North American Mission Board.
Jan 2004 to May 2005, Fall 2002. A Collegiate Ministry position ministering with Living Water Community Church’s Young Adults Ministry, students at Colby College and other local colleges, and in connection with the Baptist Convention of New England.
Summer Missionary, North American Mission Board.
Summer 2002, 2003. Directing youth, evangelism, and other ministry with Living Water Community Church, including the transition between the church planter and first Pastor.

Living Water Community Church was a six month old church plant when I joined in September of 2000 located in a small town in central Maine. In these positions I:
•Led a weekly men’s Bible Study on Colby’s campus which grew from 3 to 12 students.
•Led a weekly Young Adults Bible study at Living Water which grew from 8 to 15.
•Planned and led a week long inner-city missions trip to Camden, NJ to work with Urban Promise Ministry. Eleven students and young adults participated.
•Individually discipled 3 students in one on one sessions.
•Was a member of a successful Pastor Search Committee.
•Provided pulpit supply every three weeks for six months while church had no Pastor.
•Directed Youth Group for 3 months while Youth Pastor took leave, including a weekly large group evangelistic meeting and Wednesday night small groups.
•Served on Living Water’s Servant Leadership Team in various positions including overseeing Communications Ministry (preparing weekly bulletin and monthly newsletter), Evangelism Ministry (offering witnessing training to the congregation, planning evangelistic events, and organizing visitation programs), College Ministry, Young Adults Ministry, and Youth Ministry.

STATEMENT OF CALLING
When I moved to Maine for College, I saw the impact of real faith on other students’ lives against a sharper relief than I had previously in Southern culture. Over the course of my freshman year, I began to enjoy the ministry I participated in more than anything I was learning in class. The following summer when the church planter left Living Water, I recognized that my deepest desire was to do the ministry I had been participating in on a greater scale. In the six months while our church had no pastor, I received positive feedback from the congregation on my ministry and preaching, and I embraced this calling with confidence. Under the direction and discipleship of the new pastor in Maine, my commitment to my calling became public knowledge, culminating in the Church’s licensing and prayerfully sending my wife and me to New Orleans for seminary.

PHILOSPHY OF MINISTRY
At its essence ministry encourages individuals along the spectrum from non-Christian to a fully devoted disciple of Jesus. This process includes core commitments to authentic worship, honest community, relevant teaching, and fervent prayer. As individuals seek to follow Jesus more deeply, they will naturally be drawn into serving passionately in ministry, reaching out persuasively to the un-churched, and belonging to powerful community. The Church and every minister should seek to equip each member in this work of establishing the Kingdom of God (Ephesians 4:11-12).
